David was born in a small town in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan
where people are known as “Yoopers”. The U.P. was a very
special place to grow up. Family, hard work, education and sheer survival
skills were all pivotal to what was most important in life. It was
an atmosphere where folks left keys in their cars and unlocked doors
to the house. Even though life was simpler, Mother Nature’s harsh
environment was an adventure and a challenge. It was truly a memorable
place to grow up.
David completed his associates’ degree from a small but exceptional
community college in the U.P. while at the same time owned and operated
a pizza restaurant (that was an adventure). With aspirations to finish
college, he transferred to Michigan State University, also known as
Moo U, and completed a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. While at
MSU, David found a job with Mobile Oil Corporation. He began pumping
gas and eventually worked his way to the position of Manager. This
site was the flagship for Mobil in the Midwest as a regional training
center for new managers, marketing and sales representatives. At Mobil,
he learned the importance for standards and high expectations.
Upon completing a bachelor’s degree, David decided it was time
to pursue a career in the helping field. Working in the not-for-profit
world, he specialized in the rehabilitation of troubled youth. David
began as a Vocational Instructor/Youth Counselor. He received a vocational
certification in Auto Technology and was promoted to the position of
Vocational Coordinator and eventually Director of Education. After
earning a Master of Science in Vocational Rehabilitation from the University
of Arizona, David accepted the position of Director of Operations and
Safety before pursuing his dream of starting his own training company,
SafetyHelp, LLC. As a continual process of improvement he has earned
authorization as an OSHA trainer in General Industry. Over the past
several years, David has facilitated OSHA seminars and on-site training,
nationwide, reaching participant numbers in excess of 5000.
David utilizes his management and helping skills to assist businesses
and workers to improve the health and safety of the workplace. He is
also convinced that after years of working hard that working smarter
is definitely the way to go. David is ready and willing to share his
secrets to this profound revelation. He continues to be guided by a
very important principle. “Workers should leave work at the end
of the day in the same condition that they arrived; Safe.” It
is his pleasure to serve you.
